What products am I not allowed to sell on Paddle?

Paddle is built to serve digital products, such as software, web apps, and digital downloads. If your company offers humans services, such as consultation, support, or design services. Paddle is not a good fit for your needs.

A list of all business categories and practices which are forbidden from using the Paddle service can be found below. Many of these categories are imposed by Card Network rules, or by our payment processors. If you have any questions as to whether you business is included in one or more of these categories please contact us.

By creating an account and selling through Paddle, you are confirming that you will not be accepting payments with any connection to the following business categories and practices;

  1. Online or other non-face-to-face tobacco, e-cigarette sales, or related items (such as personal vaporizers or e-juice)
  2. Any physical product, or product that requires physical delivery
  3. Weapons and munitions
  4. Any ticket or pass to gain entry into an otherwise exclusive event
  5. Virtual currency that can be monetized, re-sold or converted to physical or digital products or services or otherwise exit the virtual world
  6. Sexually-oriented or pornographic products or services
  7. Marijuana dispensaries and related businesses
  8. Door-to-door sales
  9. Offering substantial rebates or special incentives to the cardholder subsequent to the original purchase
  10. Negative response marketing
  11. Engaging in deceptive marketing practices
  12. Sharing cardholder information with another merchant for payment of up-sell or cross-sell product or service
  13. Evading Card Network’s chargeback monitoring programs
  14. Engaging in any form of licensed or unlicensed aggregation or factoring
  15. Airlines
  16. Age verification
  17. Age restricted products or services
  18. Bail bonds
  19. Bankruptcy lawyers
  20. Bidding fee auctions
  21. Collection agencies
  22. Chain letters
  23. Check cashing, wire transfers, or money orders
  24. Counterfeit products
  25. Currency exchanges or dealers
  26. Embassies, foreign consulates, or other foreign governments
  27. Firms selling business opportunities, investment opportunities, mortgage consulting or reduction, credit counseling, repair or protection, or real estate purchases with no money down
  28. Credit card and identity theft protection
  29. Cruise lines
  30. Essay mills
  31. Flea markets
  32. Drug paraphernalia
  33. Extended warranties
  34. Psychic services
  35. “Get rich quick” schemes
  36. Gambling (including but not limited to lotteries, Internet gaming, contests, sweepstakes, or offering of prizes as an inducement to purchase products or services)
  37. Sports forecasting or odds making
  38. Illegal products or services
  39. Mail-order brides
  40. Money transmitters or money service businesses
  41. Multi-level marketing or pyramid schemes
  42. Online or other non-face-to-face pharmacies or pharmacy referral services
  43. Prepaid phone cards, phone services or cell phones
  44. Pseudo pharmaceuticals
  45. Quasi-cash or stored value
  46. Securities brokers
  47. Shipping or forwarding brokers
  48. Substances designed to mimic illegal drugs
  49. Telemarketing
  50. Telecommunications equipment and telephone sales
  51. Timeshares
  52. Centralized travel reservation services or travel clubs
  53. Personal computer technical support
  54. Selling video game or virtual world credits (unless you are the operator of the video game or virtual world)
  55. Selling social media activity, such as Twitter followers, Facebook likes, or YouTube views
  56. Any product or service that infringes upon the copyright, trademark, or trade secrets of any third party
  57. Any product, service or activity that is deceptive, unfair, predatory, or prohibited by one or more Card Networks
  58. Funding any of the items included on this Prohibited Businesses list
  59. Any copyrighted material, unless with the express permission of the copyright holder. This permision must be discussed with the Paddle team before transactions occur.
  60. Any pornographic material, or any material of a lewd and lascivious nature.
  61. Any product or service which requires or involves file sharing.
  62. Human Services (i.e. any service where a person actively performs the primary service for a client)
  63. Donations
  64. Payment processing where there is no bona fide good or service sold
